This year’s theme is Chocolate at Tiffany’s, according to Main Street Director Candy Franklin.
For $10, attendees will be able to partake in chocolate goodies, such as cupcakes, candies, dipped strawberries and a hot cocoa bar, complete with whipped cream and other toppings for the piping hot drink.
Franklin said this year the event will be executed differently than it has been in past years.
“[In past years], they had local people make the chocolate or supply them,” said Franklin. “It was all donated stuff. This year, we’re trying to do this all our own.”
Instead of getting donated chocolate goods, the city of Hampton will try their hand at making decadent desserts, such as mini cupcakes that are decorated with a nice flair.
“There will be more lavish decorations on the food,” said Franklin. “Instead of just quantity, we will have quality, too.”
For those who may not be chocolate lovers, there will also be more savory bites available for sampling.
These include cheese puffs, nuts and popcorn.
Last year, around 100 residents attended the event.
Franklin said she hopes at least the same amount, or more, will attend this year.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their black dresses and pearls in the fashion of Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Along with the chocolate bites, there will also be music and dancing.
Franklin said this event is one that will bring the community together.
“It is a community event to see people that you haven’t see in a while,” said Franklin. “It is a time for people to relax and unwind.”
