National Signing Day allowed for three senior football players of Paulding County High to come to the Signing Day Spectacular at Stars and Strikes in Dallas.

Four of the county high schools brought their signees out to showcase their signings publicly for the rest of the county

The Patriots were the third to sign at the event.

Mitchell Brice, signed to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

Julio Cortez and Joanel Jonais signed with Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky.

"I feel pretty good about everything. We had lots of adversity but these kids stuck with it and I know they'll be successful players and people," said head coach Scott Hamilton.

Brice and Cortez are the only seniors from Paulding County to play football for the Patriots all four years.

"We've had three head coaches and four defensive coordinators. It's hard to be successful with so many changes and so few returners," said Brice.

Brice said even though the team had seen much adversity, his parents raised him to finish what he starts so he stuck with it. That, and his love for the game.

As for his college choice, Brice said "it felt right".

"It was like a home away from home. It's beautiful and not too far away and I feel like this is where I need to be," said Brice.
