Across the top end, up to three lanes will be closed in both directions all weekend between Ashford Dunwoody Road and I-75 for concrete slab and bridge joint replacements in several locations. On I-285 southbound on the west side, crews will close two right lanes near Lankford Parkway all day Saturday for concrete slab replacements. And, on I-285 on the east side, two left lanes in both directions will be closed near Flat Shoals Parkway as crews perform sign structure work all weekend.
On I-20 eastbound, just outside the perimeter in DeKalb County from Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, two right lanes will be closed all weekend for pavement work.
Additionally, contractors will continue the construction of the bridges in the GA 400/I-85 interchange. Flagging operations on surface streets around the interchange and various lane closures on GA 400 are expected to cause delays in the area so motorists should plan ahead to avoid the backups. The HOV ramps at I-85 and Lindbergh Drive also remain closed until mid-July for work on the bridge columns for the interchange.
“If you can avoid I-285 and I-20 east this weekend, I would do it,” said GDOT District Construction Engineer Lee Upkins. “Long delays are expected and planning ahead will be the key to avoiding heavy traffic.”
