Among the many stars on the their seemingly impenetrable defense is junior Julia Gaston, a defensive midfielder making her mark as a scrappy player that plays much bigger than her diminutive 5-foot-2 frame.
“You see Jules and she is a little thing, but she plays like she is 6-foot tall at times,” said Blessed Trinity soccer coach Gil Jean-Baptiste. “She defies her size, is very good in the air and can tackle any girl on the field.”
Jean-Baptiste pointed to the Lady Titans 1-0 win over defending AAAAA state champion Milton last week as a perfect example of Gaston’s value to the team.
“Milton is as big of a team as we will see and she managed to be physical with them the whole game.
Then on offense she stayed in the middle and distributed the ball left and right as our other players moved forward,” said the Blessed Trinity coach. “She did all the little things that most midfielders hate to do”
“Blue-collar players like that are the type that you love to have on your team and the kind you hate to coach against.”
