The Shutze Awards, named after the renowned architect, recognize excellence in traditional design and spotlight practitioners for their work while educating the general public and professionals about the enduring excellence, appeal and importance of traditional design and those in the community that contribute to its advancement.
The 2013 Awards of Excellence in Classical Design were awarded to: Artisanship/Craftsmanship Windley residence — Grand Stair, Kevin Grisso, Custom Artisan Group; Landscape/Garden Design — English Manor Garden, John Howard, Howard Design Studio; Residential, Under 4,000 square feet — A Mediterranean Style Villa, Lost Tree Village, Florida, Stan Dixon, D. Stanley Dixon Architect Inc.; Residential 4,000 to 10,000 square feet — A Mountain Home, Cashiers, James Carter, James F. Carter Inc.; Residential Over 10,000 square feet — Meyers Home, William Baker, William T. Baker & Associates; Commercial/Civic/Institutional — Jane Hollock, Brock Recital Hall, Neil E. Davis, Davis Architects; Residential Interior Design Pine Hill Place — Miller Residence, Joel Kelly, Joel Kelly Design; Renovation, Under 4,000 square feet — West Wesley Road Residence, Blair Robbins, Blair Robbins, Designs; Renovation, Over 4,000 square feet — Residential Renovation, Columbus, Rick Spitzmiller and Bob Norris, Spitzmiller and Norris Inc.; Other — A Stable, Union Springs, James Carter, James F. The call for entries closed in November and more than 50 submissions were entered by 35 different organizations, individuals and firms covering the Southeast chapter including: Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
