Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead is hosting “The Lost Weekend,” a St. Patrick’s Day celebration, starting Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m. The pub will also host other activities throughout the next week.
General Manager Brian Russell said he describes the party as “craic,” which means “fun” in Gaelic. Activities include Irish dancers and bagpipers, live music and sports games.
“People are in great spirits, and it is one true holiday where people place more emphasis on fun with little or no stress,” Russell said.
Fado has been opened for 17 years, he said.
“We have a valued patronage of Irish and Europeans, as well as many Americans with an Irish heritage,” Russell said.
The cost is $5 presale and $10 at the door Saturday, and $10 presale and $15 at the door Sunday. Weekend passes for $15 are available presale.
The Dorothy C. Benson Center, 6500 Vernon Woods Drive in Sandy Springs, will host a St. Patrick’s Day party Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. The event will include lunch and live entertainment. Admission is $5.

St. Patrick’s Parade
This year’s 130th annual downtown Atlanta parade will be held Saturday at noon. It begins at Peachtree and McGill streets, and will proceed down Peachtree toward Woodruff Park, ending at Five Points on Marietta Street.
The city of Atlanta has supported the Hibernian Benevolent Society St. Patrick’s Day Parade since 1858, in memory of the heroic efforts of Father Thomas O’Reilly and of the Hibernian Rifles. It is now produced by the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade Inc., which is made up of representatives of Atlanta’s various Irish groups.
Midtown Irish pub Rí Rá will close off a part of Crescent Avenue Saturday to make way for a St. Patrick’s Day block party festival, starting at 9 a.m.
Guests can start the day with traditional breakfast items, and live music will kick off at noon and last until the evening.
Outside, there will be live music and dancing from 2 to 10:30 p.m. There will be satellite bars with beer and food, and a Guinness draft truck.
Tickets are required for entry starting at 2 p.m. and can be purchased for $10 in advance at TicketAlternative.com or $10 at the door.Sunday morning, there will be an Irish breakfast, three live bands and two sets of Irish dancers.
Virginia-Highland’s one and only Irish pub is hosting a full-day of live music inside and outside of Limerick Junction Sunday at 12:30 p.m. There will also be an outdoor festival behind the pub. The cost is $5 before 2 p.m. and $10 after 2 p.m.
Meehan’s Public House in Sandy Springs and Vinings are hosting St. Patrick’s Day parties Sunday.
In Sandy Springs, doors open at 10 a.m., and live music begins at 2:30 p.m. and runs through the night. There will be Irish dancers, corn hole and life-size Jenga. Cover is $10 at the door starting at 2 p.m.
In Vinings, the party starts off with a Sunday breakfast sandwich grab-and-go and a special menu all day. There will also be Irish dancers, a Celtic flutist and a raffle for a Guinness hockey jersey.
On Saturday, Meehan’s in Atlantic Station will hold the Shamrock the Station party at noon in Central Park, with Irish dancing, games, face painting, balloon art and a Nickelodeon meet-and-greet until 4 p.m. The pub is sponsoring premium and craft beer stations with drinking games. Power 96.1 and the Andrews Entertainment District in Buckhead will host the St. Patrick’s Day Two-Day Blowout Saturday and Sunday. Registration is $10 for both days.
The party will include three DJ’s, 11 bars and 11 musicians. The party starts at Stout Irish Sports Pub at 56 E. Andrews Drive. It is featuring $1 green beers, $3 Irish whisky shots and $6 Irish whisky cocktails. There will be a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament with a grand prize trip to Las Vegas. Plus, they will offer 6 a.m. “Keggs and eggs.”
The Luckie 5K will kick off Sunday at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta at 7:30 a.m. The park also will host the 2013 Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon.
