The sophomore slugger had a week to remember at the plate, belting three homeruns in three games.
That’s even more impressive when considering that that’s three more round-trippers than the Raiders dinged all of last season.
Perhaps his success is simply a case of good genes — uncle Chris Nelson was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies a little less than a decade ago.
Talent and hard work on the part of the younger Nelson, who stands 6 feet and goes about 165 pounds, appear to be paying off, too.
“[James] is an infielder with real good hands … he’s got good range and can play both the middle and infield positions, said Redan coach Marvin Pruitt.
“And, he plays baseball just about 24/7, 365 days a year … plus, he’s a really good student in the classroom.”
