In her first six 100-meter hurdle events, Evans has finished first in the race four times and second and third the other two times. She also has three first-place finishes in the 300-meter hurdles.
“I’ve worked really hard,” Evans said. “I wasn’t always a really good hurdler but I put a lot of time, effort and dedication into working on my form and my technique.”
“It is very rare when you have a kid who is a ninth grader and making an immediate impact like she’s doing,” Woodward Academy track coach Ryan Davis said. “You just don’t see that a lot. It’s not very common especially in track and field.”
Evans, who is also a successful member of the Georgia Favor Track Club, has also had some success in the long jump and high jump this season.
“She’s dedicated and she works hard at her craft,” Davis said. “The sky is the limit for her. She has a lot of potential.”
