Kirk Franz, recreation manager for the city of Johns Creek, will be celebrating the three-year anniversary of his life-saving liver transplant that he received at Emory University Hospital. Kirk needed a new liver in May of 2010 after being diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Cholangiocarcinoma.
Kirk and his wife, Shannon, serve as Liver Transplant Mentors for the Georgia Transplant Foundation and serve on the Emory Transplant Clinic’s Patient & Family Advisory Council.
In 2012, Kirk, along with his friends and family, created the nonprofit Swing Easy Hit Hard Foundation, a foundation created to increase the awareness and importance of being an organ donor and to raise funds to support families and patients who are faced with organ transplantation. The Charity Golf Tournament fundraising event is supported by the Georgia Transplant Foundation and several doctors from the Emory Transplant Clinic participate as golfers.
