A little rain — OK, maybe a lot of rain — may have postponed several outdoor events Saturday, but those who attended indoor events to celebrate the Easter season were in high and dry spirits. The city of Douglasville’s Breakfast with the Easter bunny at Hunter Memorial Park went on as scheduled, where quick-thinking organizers carried on with a dry Easter bunny, a coloring contest and an indoor egg hunt.

Parks and Recreation Director Bennett Oliver said the third annual event, held in the new community center, drew in about 100 people.

“It was a good small event and fits the community center. If it grows any larger, we’ll have to find a bigger place to hold the event,” said Oliver.

“Even though it rained, it was good to have a facility where you can alter your plans.”

Members of the Douglas County Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity came out to volunteer at the event for their third year.

The Lithia Springs Library held an “egg-straordinary” event Saturday morning during an Easter-themed program led by children’s librarian Christina Kirkham.

Kirkham read stories about the Easter bunny and traditions, then led the kids into the activity room by doing the “Bunny Hop.”

The children then learned how to blow in an egg to remove the inner yolk and creative methods to dye the eggs in vivid colors and designs.
