Local players named to All-State basketball teams

North Atlanta’s Noah Dickerson, Lovett’s Sydney Umeri and Holy Innocents’ Erika Cassell were honorable mention selections in the Georgia Sports Writers Association All-State basketball teams, which were released last week.

Dickerson was chosen to the Class AAAAA boys’ team, while Umeri and Cassell were picked to the AA and A girls’ squads, respectively.

St,. Pius X swept the top honors among the AAA girls, with Asia Durr and Kyle Snipes chosen as player and coach of the year.

Durr was selected to the AAA girls’ first team, while teammate Jasmine Carter was a second-team selection.

Marist’s Quinton Stephens was a first-team pick among the AAAA boys, while Woodward’s Solomon Mangham was a second-team choice and St. Pius’ Nick Harris was an honorable mention selection on the AAA boys’ team.

St. Francis’ Candice Williams was selected to the Class A girls’ first team, while teammate Nettie Brown was a second-team choice.

Kobi Simmons and Malik Beasley of St. Francis were selected to the boys' second team in Class A, with teammate Kaiser Gates picked for honorable mention.

Campbell’s Dante Scott was an honorable mention selection for the AAAAAA boys’ team.
