Brookhaven officials appoint Development Authority members

The Brookhaven City Council appointed seven residents to the city’s first Development Authority recently.

The Development Authority is tasked with promoting economic development opportunities in accordance with city economic development initiatives. The city will launch a comprehensive plan in the late summer or early fall that will include a detailed economic development plan for citywide opportunities.

“This is one of our most important boards and we are honored to have such accomplished members from our community,” City Manager Marie L. Garrett said.

The seven members will serve four-year staggered terms. The appointees include:

-Walt Ehmer (chairman) – president and CEO of Waffle House

-Luke Anderson – attorney

-Susan Coker – former vice president and treasurer of Cox Enterprises, Inc.

-Pat Hoban – CEO of Capital City Nissan

-Tim Peaden – attorney

-John Rhett – chairman and CEO of SunTrust Investment Services

-Bruce L. Whitmer – attorney.
