“I think we’re in a good place right now, with everyone healthy and ready to play,” Westminster girls’ coach Jay Watts said. “We are excited about the opportunity to possibly play the first two rounds of the playoffs on our home field and I think our schedule during the regular season has prepared us well for a lot of what we will see over these final two weeks.”

The Wildcats got things started Tuesday with a first-round contest at home against Lakeside of Evans.
Lovett (13-4) is also expected to make a strong run for the A-AAAAA boys’ team title as the Lions, the Area 1 champions, hosted Fellowship Christian, the fourth seed from Area 3, to open their bid.
“I feel pretty good about ourselves,” Lovett boys’ coach Jim Buczek said. “We have won our region and I think we have won our region every year since there have been regions. This year is a little different, because we have 31 kids on the team and 16 of them are freshman and sophomores, so we’re a little younger. But, with the schedule that we’ve played, they’re not so young any more. They have been tested and they’ll be ready for what they will face in the state playoffs.”
Area 1 runner-up Holy Innocents’ (15-1) hosted Greater Atlanta Christian, the third seed from Area 3.
St. Pius X (9-9), the second seed from Area 4, played host to Pope, the third-place team from Area 3.
