“Right now unless someone else comes to Jonesboro, she will be playing No. 1 next year so I look forward to her growth,” Jonesboro tennis coach Jerome Dean said. “I think she is going to do well.”
“I think I had a really good season,” said Gibson, who is a sophomore and the team’s No. 2 player. “I really improved from last year when I was a little on and off but this year I was consistent.”
Gibson, who keeps her emotions in check on the court, also helped the Lady Cardinals earn a 7-6 overall record this season, according to www.gasports.com.
“She doesn’t get upset,” Dean said. “She is just even-toned. You watch her play and you can’t tell whether she’s winning or losing based on her demeanor because she keeps the right mindset. It’s hard to teach that mental aspect of the game.”
Off the court, Gibson has a 4.0 grade-point average. She is also a cheerleader.
