The Roswell Police Department wants to make area residents aware of a phone scam.

There have multiple reports that a man identifying himself as a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy has been calling victims telling them there is a warrant for their arrest for speeding through the toll booth on Ga. 400 and demanding payment over the phone. He tells the victims the warrant will be voided if they pay a fine by credit card or money order.

This is a scam. The police department or sheriff’s office would never call for a payment. Do not give out your credit card information, bank account number or purchase a money order.

Any residents receiving these calls should immediately report them to the Roswell Police Department at (770) 640-4100.

Residents with any questions about tickets, fines or traffic court questions should contact the City Court Services at (770) 641-3790.
