The company, Certified DEF of Brigham City, Utah, and Paulding County Economic Development jointly stated in a release that the company has selected Dallas for its new Southeast U.S. diesel exhaust fluid packaging and distribution facility.
The company will provide diesel exhaust fluid to travel plazas, trucking companies, truck rental centers, automotive parts stores and retail outlets across the Southeast.
DEF is a non-hazardous and non-toxic water based product placed in diesel vehicles to reduce their emissions.
The Dallas operation is expected to employ up to 20 associates within 12 to 24 months of operation.
Mike Sarris, president of Certified DEF, said the company selected Paulding County over a number of Metro Atlanta counties.
"We are very pleased to be opening our Southeast facility in Paulding. Not only have we found several key employees in the area, but it provides an ideal location to serve our customers from and it is near several of our main suppliers.
"The folks at Paulding County Economic Development were great. Not only did they help us in our search for a specific building but they helped with a number of critical components of the project relating to building permits, opportunity zone incentives, equipment needed for our trucks, plumbers, internet service, health insurance and employee recruitment. From the beginning, Paulding County separated itself from the other communities and the assistance provided by the Paulding economic development team was a key factor in Certified DEF's decision to locate our facility in Dallas."
Certified DEF will occupy 6,000 square feet of space at 260 International Parkway which is located in the Paulding County/City of Dallas Opportunity Zone created in 2012. Operations are set to begin later this month and the company is currently in the process of hiring office staff, drivers, tank operators and other personnel.
Paulding County Commission Chairman David Austin said Certified DEF is a terrific win for Paulding.
"Since we launched our economic development organization two years ago we have seen some outstanding companies such as Interroll, Ronchi and now Certified DEF select Paulding for their regional and national operations through PCED's recruitment efforts. Certified DEF is an excellent addition to Paulding's business community and once again demonstrates that Paulding offers a highly desirable business climate.", said Austin.
Hans Gant, vice president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce said the announcement was exciting but not surprising that another clean technology company selected the region for its operations.
"MAC has made a concerted effort to expand the presence of clean technology companies in Metro Atlanta and we have become one of the leading locations in the nation for the industry. Certified DEF joins a growing list of clean tech companies that recognize the logistics, workforce and quality of life advantages afforded by our region. This announcement reflects the strength of Paulding County and Metro Atlanta as a location for clean tech enterprises," said Gant.
Paulding County Economic Development Executive Director Jamie Gilbert said Certified DEF's selection of Paulding represents another step towards fulfilling the community's economic development vision.
"PCED is focused on bringing in quality, sustainable businesses that will create attractive employment opportunities for our residents. Certified DEF will do just that and is another example of the type of corporations we want calling Paulding County home.
"I have worked with their management team for several months now on a variety of issues to bring the project to fruition in Paulding. It has been quite enjoyable and I'm looking forward to assisting them in the future as the operation grows," Gilbert said.
"The assistance provided by the Paulding Chamber, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Paulding County Industrial Building Authority, Georgia Department of Labor and utility providers was instrumental. They assisted us when called upon and PCED is extremely thankful for their support."
