Hughes, a Sandy Springs resident, leads the swing jazz band. The six-piece horn group will perform a set of big-band swing music, jazz hits and American standards such as Sinatra and Gershwin, with the occasional surprise mixed in.
“Gwen Hughes and The Retro Jazz Kats managed to squeeze in two songs during their brief set on June 2,” Heritage Special Events Director Rebekah Henry Murphy said. “The weather was extremely unfortunate, but just based off that brief set, the audience immediately fell in love with the band and the vocalist, Gwen Hughes. We received many requests to bring her back and we are happy to have found a date available on her busy international touring schedule.”
The rescheduled performance joins the remaining 2013 Concerts by the Springs season:

Held one Sunday evening each month, May through September, the 17th annual outdoor spring/summer concert series is free and open to the public. Concerts are per-formed from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and are located at Heritage Green on The Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn, 6110 Bluestone Road.
Table seating for six is available for $125 for Heritage Sandy Springs members and $150 for nonmembers.
Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early and picnic with family and friends. Gates open at 5 p.m. Blankets and coolers are welcome but no outside tables are permitted. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
