Steve Fincher believes that, as a city attorney, no two days in the life of a municipality, especially from a legal standpoint, are ever the same.

He should know, not only due to his 33 years in the law profession but, at one time or another in those three plus decades, he has been the city attorney for every municipality in Clayton County and, “cities from Palmetto to East Point in south Fulton.”

As the managing and founding partner of the law firm of Fincher, Denmark, Williams and Minnifield, LLC, which he formed in 2006, his list of municipal clients has expanded to again include Forest Park, as its city council approved the firm as its new legal counsel last month.

Fincher added that now as Forest Park’s new city attorney as well as continuing as College Park’s city attorney, he will provide legal counsel to one of the longest standing mayors in south metro, 18-year College Park Mayor Jack Longino, as well as the newly-elected Forest Park Mayor David Lockhart.

Fincher said every city faces the same legal issues as any company or individual.

“Although the issues may be similar, the cities aren’t as each approaches these issues from different perspectives and back grounds,” Fincher said.

“It is that uniqueness that each city brings to the table that makes the position of legal counsel challenging but very interesting,” he added.

Longino and Lockhart think highly or Fincher.

“Without a question, Steve is a fine lawyer and, with his longevity as College Park’s legal counsel, he well understands all aspects of our city and the issues it faces as we try to move the city forward,” Longino said.

“I can say without question that Steve has played a huge role in College Park’s success,” he added.

Lockhart, who is also a lawyer, praised Fincher and his firm as being a “natural fit” for Forest Park.

“I am more confident in our city council with each passing day as their decisions continue to prove to be wise and their selection of Fincher, Denmark, Williams and Minnifield, LLC is no exception,” he said.

“Steve and his firm have shown themselves as true professionals who are committed to helping our city,” Lockhart said.

He also added that the firm’s staff has been valuable in helping the Forest Park council with budget and finance questions.
