Now completing his first term in office, Owens said “Serving our city in this capacity has been an extremely rewarding experience.
“Alpharetta has a great many good things going for it right now, and I would enjoy the opportunity to see them through.”
City Center is under construction, with the City Hall building now coming out of the ground, he said.
“There’s energy in downtown that you can sense. New restaurants are moving in and businesses are expanding.
“ I can’t wait until the improvements are complete, making the area more pedestrian friendly and drawing even more people in to enjoy downtown.”
The City Center plans include green space along Main Street as well as Brooke Street Park, a five-acre passive park that will wrap around the new city hall and Fulton County library branch.
“Even with the City Center project we have been able to increase investments in maintaining our streets and bridges, with over $3 million last year alone,” said Owens.
Owens is married with two children in the Fulton County school system.
He has been an active member of the Alpharetta community since 1994.
