In a news release, "Day 1," the national ecumenical radio and internet ministry, announced Wednesday it has moved to new headquarters on the campus of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

“After 12 wonderful years in the Pritchett Center at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Midtown, our six staff members have moved up the road to Buckhead and the lovely campus of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church,” said Peter Wallace, executive producer and host of the weekly “Day 1” radio program. “We are deeply grateful to the staff and leadership of Second-Ponce for offering this beautiful space to us. We already feel right at home.”

Construction of a new recording studio and control room, made possible in part by a matching grant given by an anonymous Atlanta benefactor, is nearing completion.

“We are so pleased that, in the years to come, exceptional mainline preachers from across America will come here to record sermons and interviews for our radio program, and videotape biblical reflections for our website,” Wallace said.

To celebrate its new home, Day 1 will have its next prayer breakfast at Second Ponce Sept. 12 at 7:30 a.m. The Right Rev. Robert C. Wright, Episcopal bishop of Atlanta, will speak, and Jan Love, dean of Candler School of Theology at Emory University in DeKalb County, will offer a morning prayer.

“Day 1,” has been broadcast every week for 68 years, formerly as “The Protestant Hour,” and is currently distributed to more than 200 radio stations across America and overseas. In Atlanta the program airs Sundays at 7:05 a.m. on News/Talk WSB, AM 750 and 95.5 FM.

“Day 1” is produced by the Alliance for Christian Media, which also comprises the Episcopal Media Center.
