The Dunwoody Fencing Club, based out of Roswell and in the midst of celebrating 10 years of existence, has announced its coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Kathy Vail will return as the head coach and welcomes assistants Richard Shaw, John Stephens and David Eichler to the club. Vail holds coaching certifications with USA Fencing, US Fencing Coaches and the U.S. Fencing Coaches College. She is also the regional coordinator for region six within U.S. Fencing and the founder of the Georgia High School Fencing League.

Overall, the entire staff has more than 100 years of experience in fencing and coaches at numerous league member programs including Alpharetta, Cambridge, Chattahoochee, Fellowship Christian, Milton and Roswell.

The club concluded its previous season at the U.S. Fencing Association’s national championships on July 7. Four fencers were rewarded regional rolling points patches for region six, which encompasses teams from Delaware through Florida in the eastern portion of the United States.

Alpharetta resident Dom Florio earned two patches for finishing second in the Youth 10 men’s epee and third in the Youth 12 men’s epee categories for this past season. Madeline Janowski earned top honors in the Youth 10 women’s epee and Youth 12 women’s epee divisions.
