A Dallas father of four has won a hefty prize playing Fantasy 5, a Georgia Lottery press release stated.

Raymond Edwards Jr., 55, won the $250,629 jackpot prize from the Aug. 10 Fantasy 5 drawing. He was one of three winners to clinch the jackpot from matching all five winning numbers, the release stated.

Using a combination of his own numbers, Edwards purchased his ticket at Exxon Food Mart at 257 Buchanan Hwy. in Dallas. Additional jackpot winning tickets were purchased in Clayton and Athens.

The lucky winner discovered his prize while watching WSB-TV following the televised drawing.

“I checked the Georgia Lottery’s website, and I shouted ‘We got it,’ ” Edwards recalled.

Edwards and his wife, Carol, are excited but have no plans at the moment for the winnings.

Winning numbers from the Aug. 10 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 4-5-20-23-34.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
