According to first-year head coach Eric Bishop, the spring practices were successful as he noticed the things former head coach Jim Kremer instilled in the players and in him which made things run smoothly.

Spring practices ran May 7 through 18, with an intrasquad spring game on the last day.

“Coach Kremer instilled a work ethic and practice expectations that have gone a long way in contributing to the team’s success. … He gave me a lot of duties and responsibilities which helped make me more prepared for this position,” Bishop said.

Bishop has been a head baseball coach for 17 years and an assistant football coach “in some capacity” for 20 years. This will be his first-ever head coaching job, but being under Kremer he is familiar with the Adairsville football program and how things are done.

During the spring practices and the summer workouts, Bishop said they worked on the fundamentals of the game, but he said they also tried something a little different this year as well, as he didn’t want all his experienced players going against each other and leaving the less experienced guys to work alone.

“I split the guys right down the middle into equal teams by getting a good amount of experience on both sides. I’m hoping this will get more players more reps and build depth,” said Bishop.

With a brand new head coach on the sidelines, the Tigers are ready to get the season started and try to improve on last season’s record.
