The qualifying period in Alpharetta ended Wednesday with four names in the ring, two of which will run unopposed.

Posts 1, 2 and 3 are up for election, and incumbents Donald Mitchell, Mike Kennedy and Chris Owens are all seeking re-election.

Mitchell will be challenged by former city councilman and mayoral candidate Doug DeRito.

DeRito left council in 2011 to run for mayor.

How is it that Doug Derito was removed from office as a councilman in New Jersey for accepting a job with city audit firm and no one talks about that illegal behavior? He profited from his position as a councilman which is grounds for removal.
