Senior running back/strong safety Xzavier Shugars has been the driving force behind the Chamblee football team’s 2-0 start to the season.

Shugars has averaged 192 yards in each of the Bulldogs’ wins and scored three touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, he has also had an interception.

“Xzavier has been a quiet leader for us,” Chamblee head coach Allen Johnson said. “He practices hard every day and does his assignment.”

Chamblee has won its first two games of the season each year since 2005 and this campaign hasn’t been different as the Bulldogs shut out Dunwoody 28-0 and beat Druid Hills 26-16.

“We’ve been teaching the guys patience, playing with discipline and trusting our scheme,” Johnson said.

Chamblee returns to action on Friday at home against South Atlanta.
