One of south metro’s most anticipated revivals and spiritual healing events returns after a nine-year absence Saturday.

The Citywide Healing Explosion, presented by the Marjorie Abraham Dent Ministries, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at a new location, the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park.

The event is free other than a $5 per vehicle GICC parking fee. A free will offering will also be taken.

Quoting from the Bible, Acts 8:8, Dent described the event as one which will “bring great joy to the city.”

“We had our last Citywide Healing Explosion in 2005 at the College Park City Auditorium but, with our move this year to the GICC, we should be able to accommodate many more people at this great healing event,” she said.

In addition to Dent, who will be preaching, the event includes numerous spiritual music presentations, including the First Missionary Baptist Church Choir and Praise Ministry, headed by its pastor, Bishop C.L. Carter.

Other musical guests include Dr. Kenyatta Carrington, lead musician for the First Missionary Baptist Church, and College Park’s Mercy Missionary Baptist Church.

Also preaching at the service will be Evangelist Barbara McKee, founder of the L.I.F.T. Outreach Ministries on Old National Highway and Rick Pierson from Woods Memorial Baptist Church, also on Old National Highway, as well as Apostle Marcia Tonsler of Vine Way Ministries.

In addition, Latter Rain Christian Church, under the direction of Bishop Dale Osburn, will provide ushers and others to assist those seeking a personal hands-on healing event at the alter.

According to Dent, the purpose of the event is to bring hope to those who are discouraged for any reason, from a family situation to personal finances.

“Through this ministry, we want them to receive a word from God which will revive their hope and be a rich, meaningful, spiritual experience,” she said.

Dent hopes those with physical or mental problems will take part in the hands-on healing at the alter as those attending pray for others who are sick or in need of guidance from God.

“We hope people will take from this service a message that will inspire them and strengthen their faith in God and Jesus Christ,” Dent said.
