The sophomore right hitter, according to head coach Debra Adams, “was a catalyst that led to a hard-fought victory against Cornerstone” on Sept. 24.
Dean’s most outstanding moment of the season came against Cornerstone as well, making key serves and aces that helped them win the match.
“So this was a tough victory and her serves and back row defense made a huge impact,” Adams said.
Adams described Dean as a player with “tremendous” work ethic and the ability to correct her mistakes. She is also a player who will work hard “because it is the right thing to do and because she wants to improve.”
Being coached by Adams for four years now, Adams said Dean has improved in many ways and is quickly becoming a leader on the team.
“Markie’s skill level on the volleyball court has improved dramatically. She has not only grown and developed her skill level, but her leadership and volleyball IQ as well. She is a true leader through actions and words,” said Adams.
Dean said Adams leads by example but is becoming more of a vocal leader on the court.
