The East Paulding football team is 4-1 after beating Villa Rica Friday and senior Chris Guinn has stepped up this season and provided “solid” play for the team.

Playing tight end and defensive end for the Raiders, Guinn has “blossomed this year into one of the best defensive players on the team,” according to head coach Chuck Goddard.

Guinn has played for East Paulding since his freshman year.

At 6-foot-3, 216 pounds, Goddard described Guinn as a “very explosive” and strong player and very good runner for his size.

Guinn currently has 35 tackles, seven assists, 10 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, four pressures, three pass knockdowns and two receptions for 75 yards.

According to Goddard, Guinn leads by example through his hard work and his “great technique.”

“He plays so hard and he never complains. He’s what you look for; the kind of kid you want on your team,” said Goddard.

Being such a “solid player” for the Raiders this season, Goddard was unable to pinpoint just one particular moment in which Guinn just did a “spectacular” job.

“He had a couple of key sacks on some big plays against New Manchester, but he has just been an all-around consistent player,” Goddard said.

As a senior, Guinn is nearing the end of his high school career, but Goddard said he thinks Guinn is “entertaining” the idea of playing college ball.
