In the victory over the Buccaneers, Burks went 24 of 32 through the air for 391 yards and four touchdowns. Burks also rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Burks, a senior, has committed to be part of Kennesaw State University’s inaugural team in 2015.
After the first four games of the season Burks had completed 68 of 99 pass attempts and thrown only two interceptions. He had passed for 1,202 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 477 yards, eight touchdowns and one two-point conversion.
During the game, Burks’ most defining moment, according to assistant coach Trey Donaldson, came early in the game.
“I think that keeping the team focused after being down 14-0 early in the game was clearly a defining moment. He was very calm and knew what had to be done to get us back in the game,” said Donaldson.
Donaldson described Burks as a focused player, respected by his teammates and a good leader. He is one that gives his all when he steps on the field, Donaldson said.
Throughout the season Burks has played consistently, Donaldson said.
“He has done a good job running the offense,” he said. “He has handled the pressure very well.”
