NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: Jaywalking

JAYWALKING: A Roswell police officer went to talk to a young man and woman Oct. 5 after witnessing them jaywalking at the corner of Old Dogwood and Old Holcomb Bridge roads, but the man took off running. Officers located him near an apartment complex but then he fled into the woods. Police finally caught the man and took him to jail for obstruction. The man initially would not give his name or date of birth but when he was finally identified, it was uncovered that he had a record for criminal trespassing in Roswell and was wanted for criminal trespass in Henry County.

BUSINESS BREAK-INS: Three businesses in a shopping plaza at 631 N. Main Street in Milton were allegedly robbed the morning of Oct. 9. The locks to the front doors to Bagley Hair Salon, Diva Diva Boutique and Music Matters had been removed. About $5 in change was missing from Bagley Hair Salon, about $300 was missing from Diva Diva Boutique and about $400 was missing from Music Matters. According to dispatch, an alarm had gone off around 3 a.m. at Music Matters but when police came to check, all the doors were locked. Later in the day, a Roswell police officer located the cash drawer from Music Matters on Highway 9 at Houze Way. A black MetroPCS cell phone was also lying on the grass next to the drawer.

POWER OUT: Sometime between the late evening of Oct. 10 and the morning of Oct. 12, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a large power box and several hundred feet of large electrical wiring from a building on Alpharetta Highway that was being remodeled. The estimated cost of the stolen items is $15,000.

RETURN TO THE CRIME SCENE: On Oct. 11, two men were reported to have walked out of the Kroger on Highway 9 in Alpharetta with a shopping cart full of groceries they hadn’t paid for. The store manager told police the same men came to the store the following day and attempted to take another shopping cart full of groceries. The men were seen leaving in a red SUV.

PURSE SNATCHER: An unknown suspect broke into three vehicles that were parked Oct. 12 at North Park in Alpharetta. The suspect smashed the rear driver’s side windows of a black Chevrolet Trailblazer and a blue Infiniti G37 and took purses that were in the vehicles. A purse was also reported to be stolen from a blue Honda Odyssey whose driver had left the vehicle unlocked.

RACETRACK ROBBERY: Roswell police were dispatched to Andretti’s on Alpharetta Highway Oct. 13 in reference to a reported theft from a vehicle. The victim told police a Glock firearm had been taken from his vehicle along with a black and yellow external computer hard drive. No suspects were immediately located.
