Composers and lyricists, randomly paired together, are tasked with writing an opera in 12 hours. In the subsequent 12 hours, stage directors, singers and accompanists stage and rehearse the new piece. The project culminates in a free showcase where judges and audience alike get to name the top piece.
The event will take place at the 14th Street Playhouse, 173 14th St. Midtown

The judges are: Lyndsay Werking, artistic services manager of OPERA America; Jamila Robinson, digital entertainment editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and Cory Lippiello, director of artistic planning and community engagement of The Atlanta Opera.
The composers are: Marvin Carlton, Ronnie Reshef, Gustav Westin and 2013 winner Natalie Williams
The librettists are: Madeline St. Romain (participating for the second time), Lauren McCall, Chadwick Hagan (has participated since the inauguration of the program) and Vynnie Meli (last year’s winner; has participated since the inauguration of the program).
The singers are: Pedro Carreras, Ivan Segovia, Abigail Halon, Laurie Tossing, Sondra Collins, Megan Brunning, Jayme Alilaw and Jonathan Spuhler.
The stage directors are: Kristin Kenning, Dawn Neely and Rebecca Bowden.
The accompanists are: Catherine Giel, Rolando Salazar and Daniel Solberg
