Voters have the chance to cast ballots early today and Friday before Tuesday’s special election for Sunday retail alcohol sales in Dallas and city council races in Dallas and Hiram.

Dallas voters can make their choices today and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Paulding County Election Office at 240 Constitution Blvd. in Dallas.

On election day, Tuesday, voters can cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Dallas City Hall Council Meeting Room at 129 E. Memorial Drive in Dallas.

The special election is asking Dallas voters to decide retail sales of packaged alcoholic beverages on Sundays. Almost 6,500 Dallas residents are eligible to vote, according to the Paulding County Elections Office.

If Dallas voters approve Sunday sales it would be the second Paulding city to do so after Hiram voters said yes in November 2011. Residents of unincorporated Paulding rejected Sunday sales earlier this year.

Three Dallas City Council seats also are up for election. Incumbent Council Member at large Nancy Arnold, Ward 1 Councilman Chris Carter and Ward 3 Councilman Griffin White are unopposed.

Hiram’s election is for city council members in Posts 3, 4 and 5.

Early voting runs today and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Paulding County Election Office and Hiram Community Center at 217 Main St.

The election is set for Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hiram Community Center. Incumbents Teresa Philyaw of Post 3 and Derrick Battle of Post 4 are unopposed. Kathy Carter and Peggy Howland are squaring off for the Post 5 seat.

Almost 2,200 Hiram residents are registered to vote.
