Pet owners in Brookhaven now have a new option when it comes to caring for their furry friends.

Owner and veterinarian Dr. Mark St. Onge opened his doors to the community with his new facility, the BuckHaven Veterinary Clinic, at 4226 Peachtree Road, N.E., about six weeks ago.

He said the community has shown their support since the facility’s first day of business.

“The people that have come in are wonderful and upbeat, very encouraging and complimentary about the facility.

“We want BuckHaven to feel like home and be a part of Brookhaven,” he said.

The clinic offers a wide range of services, geared mostly at small pets, such as dogs and cats, including spay and neuter surgeries, dental cleanings, in-house blood work testing and more.

“Our monitoring capabilities are every bit on par with what humans receive and our digital X-rays allow us to get results within seconds,” St. Onge said.

He said the facility embraces technology by being a paperless clinic.

“Everything goes directly into our patient’s digital medical record so nothing is lost or mistreated,” St. Onge said.

After working for other practices throughout Dunwoody and Duluth, as well as working in an operational position across the east coast, St. Onge decided to open his own practice.

He said he knew he wanted the clinic to be in Brookhaven.

“I’ve lived in and around this area, specifically in North Druid Hills, for about 20 years and I’ve been watching Brookhaven the entire time and wondering why there wasn’t a clinic like this,” he said. “Then the time came in my life to make the decision to work for myself or open my own practice and I decided it was time to do this.”

One of the reasons for settling in Brookhaven, St. Onge said, was because the city is “increasing visibility and desirability to live there.”

Residents are encouraged by the clinic’s staff to come in with any questions or to get a tour of the facilities by St. Onge.

He said it is important for the community to know that when they walk in, they will be dealing with the owner and practicing veterinarian at the clinic.

“I want [people] to be comfortable and think the staff is respectful and very client oriented and know that their pets are able to receive care from the owner of the facility, not someone else,” St. Onge said.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
