Jordan Flowers continues to add to his list of state championships.

The Westminster senior runner won his second cross country championship in three years when he claimed the Class AA boys’ individual title with a time of 17 minutes, 22.76 seconds at the state meet in Carrollton Nov. 9.

Flowers had his eye on regaining the AA crown that he won in 2011 after finishing fourth last year while sick with mononucleosis.

“Jordan was determined to win the championship this year, especially after coming down with mono,” Westminster boys’ cross country coach Joe Tribble said. “After finishing second at [the Region 6AA meet to Wesleyan’s Matt Moratti], he remained confident that, though it would be a battle at state, he could use his track speed to overmatch any opponent in the last 400 meters. Obviously, all the coaches and his teammates were pleased that he capped his high school career with a victory.”

In addition to his two state cross country titles, Flowers has also won three state crowns in track — winning the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs last spring and the 1,600 in 2012.
