Male Athlete of the Week-Austin King

Austin King came up big for Alpharetta in its first-round Class AAAAAA state playoff game against Collins Hill Nov. 15.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior quarterback threw for three touchdown passes and 219 yards to lead the Raiders to the postseason victory.

King threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Rustin Suter in the first quarter, then fired one for eight years to James Marbaugh and another one for 43 yards to Daniel Clements in the fourth quarter.

It has been a successful junior season for King, who completed 130 of 213 passes for 2,255 yards and 20 touchdowns going into Alpharetta’s second-round playoff game with Collins Hill last Friday and has played a vital role in the Raiders’ drive to the Region 6AAAAAA title this season.

He also completed 15 of 20 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns, mostly in the first half, in the Raiders’ 34-17 win over north Fulton and 6AAAAAA rival Chattahoochee Oct. 18.
