“We offer furniture, art, accessories and design services,” said Lynn Morley, proprietor and designer. “We have a mix of traditional, contemporary, transitional and eclectic — something for everyone.”
Morley is an interior designer who was inspired to open the retail shop after a visit to a flea market in Paris years ago.
“I explored the small villages and markets with the intent of bringing beautiful, unusual items back to the states,” she said. “We strolled through the markets shortly after lunch and the vendors proceeded to rope off their booths and pull out large farmhouse tables, French bread, wine and lunch. Their focus was on enjoying friendship, food and leisure, and I decided I wanted to live my life that way.”
After spending years looking for the perfect spot for her future business, Morley and her husband John acquired and renovated an early 20th century farmhouse at 531 S. Main St. in Alpharetta, complete with a traditional wrap-around porch.
Morley taps into her design background to hand pick the items for store along with the team at The Porch — friends who supported her in seeing her dream to reality.
“Our art collection is outstanding with a number of local, accomplished and emerging artists,” she said. “We also have hand-painted Italian dinnerware from Arte Italica, along with their lovely ceramic and pewter pieces; Belgium linen and organic bedding from Pom Pom, and extra-long custom-made shower curtains from Legacy Linens.”
Morley said the business has been met with a positive response from the Alpharetta community in its first two weeks.
“The excitement for our new venture by people we’ve never met has been amazing,” she said.
Plans for a big grand opening celebration are in the works for a tentative date in mid-January.
