Classes for students in Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb County Schools and Fulton County Schools each resumed Wednesday morning, when metro Atlanta was starting to thaw out from an arctic blast.

Due to below-freezing temperatures, each district cancelled all classes for Tuesday, they announced on their websites Monday.

Staff members for the Cobb and Fulton districts reported to work at 10 a.m. All scheduled district events, including extracurricular activities and events, were rescheduled.

According to the National Weather Service’s website, as of 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the temperature in Atlanta was 22 degrees, with a wind chill of six below zero. But the high is expected to be 41 Wednesday. Monday night’s low temperature for Atlanta was 12 degrees, with Tuesday’s high 24 and its low was 5.

Monday, the start time for all Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb County Schools and Fulton County Schools employees was delayed until 10 a.m., each district announced either in a news release or on its website. Monday was a teacher professional learning day for all three school systems, so students were originally scheduled to be on their holiday break until Tuesday.

In other news, Fulton County government offices opened at their normally scheduled times Monday, without delay, according to a news release.
