A national convention honoring people and businesses that uplift their neighborhoods is moving to Atlanta.

Mayor Kasim Reed and several others are scheduled share information on the Neighborhood Awards Weekend, which will be hosted at Philips Arena and the Georgia World Congress Center downtown Aug. 7 through 10. The event — hosted by entertainer Steve Harvey — had been hosted in Las Vegas and is expected to draw about 150,000 attendees.

The weekend of activities is expected to feature celebrities, actors and musicians who will present award winners with prizes in 12 categories.

Officials are expected to announce additional details about the event Friday morning at Atlanta City Hall.
