The junior finished second in the Class AAAAA boys’ 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.70 seconds and placed fifth in the 200 individual medley at 1 minute, 52.73 seconds for the Raiders, who finished third in the AAAAAA team standings.
Cusick’s performance at the state meet capped off a successful season, which also included a win in the 100 butterfly (51.53) seconds and a third-place showing in the 100 backstroke (52.11 seconds) at the Fulton County Championships at Marist Jan. 11.
“Patrick is a team captain for Alpharetta swim and dive and his leadership and energy is vital to our team’s success,” Alpharetta swimming coach Lisa Marshall said. “Patrick is always analyzing our competition and collaborating with the coaches for our best relays and individual events.
