The Redan Lady Raiders looked very much like an undefeated team in the opening round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

Senior Brea Elmore made four 3-pointers in the first quarter and scored 16 of her 29 points in the frame as the Lady Raiders cruised to a 97-38 home win over Walnut Grove on Friday.

Elmore, who outscored the Lady Warriors in the first quarter, also had six steals and three blocks. Jada Byrd netted 10 of her 18 points in third quarter while Jamese Abney scored 11 of her 13 in the frame.

Destini McClary had seven steals and Byrd added six for Redan (29-0), which will host Northwest Whitfield (24-4) on Monday.

As a result of full-court traps and on-target perimeter shooting, the Lady Raiders turned an 11-point, first-quarter advantage into a 49-24 lead at the half. In the third quarter, Redan immediately put together a 15-0 run to assure the rout, resulting in an 84-31 cushion with one quarter remaining.

The Lady Raiders made 14 3-pointers compared to the Lady Warriors’ two.
