The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center in west Midtown Saturday announced Artistic Director Stuart Horodner will be leaving the center to accept the museum director position at the Art Museum of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He will continue in his current position at the center until June 6, working on planned exhibitions and programs.

Horodner has been artistic director at the center since 2008, and during this time he has developed and curated numerous solo and thematic exhibitions with emerging and established artists and organized a range of educational programming and events.

“It is always challenging to leave a great institution and colleagues that you cherish,” Horodner said. “I am extremely proud of all the projects we have developed at ACAC during the past several years. The Atlanta arts community has been very supportive of me and my efforts, and I thank them sincerely.”

Said board President Tim Schrager, “Stuart has made significant contributions to [the center.] We look forward to his helping us make a smooth transition in the coming months, as we con-tinue with all planned exhibitions, educational programming, and events. We will begin the search for a new curator immediately, for which details will soon be released separately. This is an exciting opportunity for Stuart and we wish him all the best.”
