“They were my first choice when I started looking to play college soccer,” Carter said. “I emailed several coaches that I was interested in playing for and he was the first one to respond. I went up to visit and got along really well with the team.”
As a result, Carter signed her letter of intent to become a Lady Bear next year instead of attending Presbyterian, where her sister Chandler Carter plays, Berry, Georgia Southwestern or Florida Southern.
Carter, whose current position is center midfielder, said she will likely move to the forward spot at Truett-McConnell, while majoring in psychology with an interest in child therapy. She is home-schooled and has a 3.9 grade-point average.
“Hopefully, I will be able to start when I get there,” Carter said.
As far as this season, Carter wants to the team to reclaim the success that the 2010 and 2011 championship teams had.
“I want to finish the season strong,” Carter said. “We have a new team coming in since we had a lot of seniors graduate last year. But I’m hoping we can get back to the finals this season.”
