Democrats qualified for three of the six legislative seats representing Paulding County Thursday.

Charles L.R. Winter of Hiram qualified for the Senate District 31 seat. Winter, a business professional, will face incumbent State Sen. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, in the November general election.

Sandra Fuller of Dallas qualified for the House District 19 seat. Fuller, a writer, will face State Rep. Paulette Braddock, R-Hiram, in the November general election. Braddock qualified to seek re-election earlier this week.

James Harrison Nixon, a body piercer and Douglasville resident, qualified for the Senate District 30 seat. He will face the winner of the May 20 Republican primary race between incumbent State Sen. Mike Dugan, R-Carrollton, and Bill Hembree of Winston.

Meanwhile, after saying publicly he would seek re-election, Post 3 County Commissioner Tommie Graham changed his mind and will not run for a second full term this year, he said Thursday.

Graham said his decision was not based on any specific issue the commission was facing.

"It's just not the right thing to do at this time," he said.
