Omega in concert
The Omega Quartet, featuring Kevin Harry of Dallas, is set to perform Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dallas Theater in downtown Dallas. The group is a Southern Gospel quartet based in Dahlonega. Having started in 2008, the group quickly gained recognition, earning several awards including 2010 runner-up in the National Quartet Convention’s Group Talent Search; 2011 second runner-up in Bill Bailey’s National Gospel Music Talent Search; and 2012 Daybreak Artist of the Year Award winner. Music, fun at hospital
The WellStar Paulding Hospital Grand Opening 5K Walk/Run will kick off a full day of celebration Saturday to celebrate the upcoming opening of WellStar Paulding Hospital in its new location at the corner of U.S. Hwy. 278 and Bill Carruth Parkway in Hiram. Other events scheduled include family fun day with games, food and prizes at noon; evening concert featuring country music artist John Pardi at 6:45 p.m.; and fireworks after dark. Art teachers’ exhibit

‘Cake is Art’
Registration will run through Friday for the “Cake is Art” Cake Decorating Challenge. The event, co-sponsored by Kake Kompani, is set for Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Burnt Hickory Park. The event is for ages 10 and up. Overall awards will include Best of Show, Most Original, Best Taste and People’s Choice (voted by public). First place trophy and second and third place ribbons will be given in each category. Categories are Youth Cake/Cupcake; Adult Cake/Cupcake; and Faux Cake. Spring Forward Fest
The third annual Paulding County Spring Forward Festival is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the auditorium and gymnasium of Paulding County High School at 1297 Villa Rica Hwy. in Dallas. The theme for the Spring Forward Festival is “Live, Learn, Local.” Live music, food concessions, a petting zoo, college recruiter, chiropractor, and Civil War re-enactors will also be on hand.
