The senior sprinter began early when he set a new school mark in the 100-meter dash — finishing with a time of 10.83 seconds to place third — at a meet hosted by Westminster March 5. He also won the 200 dash in 23.23 seconds in that meet.
Campbell continued his record-setting pace when he broke the school’s 200 mark with a time of 22.57 seconds to place fifth at the Friday Night Lights meet in Marietta March 28.
He went on to win both the 100 (11.13 seconds) and 200 (22.63 seconds) the following day at the Landmark Christian Invitational in Fairburn.
“Nick has a great work ethic and has been working since his freshman year to reach the consistency in his power and strength that we are seeing now,” Galloway track and field coach Denny Beatty said. “It was great to see Nick compete at Marietta with the larger AAAAA and AAAAAA schools. It will only help him for our region meet later this month.”
