Arabia Mountain coach Dedrick Whiting and his staff needed Curtis Wilson to be a problem offensively for other teams and the senior guard came through.

“This year was just perfect timing for him,” Whiting said. “He came into his own. We talked to him on many occasions about stepping up his game and getting better every game, being more consistent and that go-to guy. He stepped up to the plate.”

As a result, Wilson, who is listed at 5-foot-11, averaged 20 points this past season, while shooting 51 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range.

“He just continued to do what he had to do to help us win and keep us in games,” Whiting said. “He was just consistent all year.”

“I just tried to have fun and things turned out great,” Wilson said.

One game that stands out on Wilson’s resume was against North Atlanta on Jan. 25 when he scored 48 points and made 19-of-26 shots from the floor.

On April 3, Wilson had another impressive performance, scoring a game-high 20 points on the way to winning MVP in the DeKalb County Senior All-Star Basketball Classic.

Wilson, who has a 3.2 grade-point average and an interest in sports medicine, said he has garnered interest from Georgia, Georgia Southern, Mercer, Florida A&M, Kennesaw State and North Florida.
