The senior goalkeeper has led the way for a Warrior defense that has recorded eight shutouts this season.
With his stellar play a key factor, North Atlanta is headed to the Class AAAAA state playoffs — its first postseason berth since 2011.
“In the goalie box, his reaction time is amazing,” North Atlanta coach Jay Bland said. “He’s a flying acrobat in the air. On corner kicks, he’s really reactive. He really comes out of the box. He commands the box. He’s working a lot on his distribution out of the box. He can kick the ball far and puts it where he wants to. He has great command of the box and has no qualms about coming of out the box on a one-on-one situation. He comes out and usually makes a really good save or really good stop.”
Bland said Garcia — who is scheduled to graduate in May — is as solid a person as he is a goalkeeper.
“His character is great, Bland said. “He’s a great kid all around. I never had any problems with him. He’s always willing to do what I ask.”
