Following the success of the first summer festival, organizers with the Alpharetta Business Association are hoping the event marks a fine celebration of the unofficial start of summer.
“[Last summer’s event] went real well,” said Carol Anderson-Wood, event organizer and association member. “It was a good event. Each time we have a bigger crowd.”
While this will be just the second year for the summer festival, the Brew Moon Fest was launched in October 2011 as a fall festival. The celebration is now twice a year — once in late spring and again during the fall.
“We estimated somewhere around 3,000 people [attended last summer’s festival],” Anderson-Wood said. “We expect probably more [this year], because this band has a really good draw.”
Live music will be performed by The Yacht Rock Schooner, a popular Atlanta band. The festival also will feature a variety of beer and food from various eateries.
The beers served will include Blue Moon White, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Mother Earth Park Day Pilsner, Terrapin RecreationALE, SweetWater India Pale Ale and Eventide Pale Ale. Local restaurants that will be serving up bites to eat include Smokejack BBQ, Pure Taqueria, Snap Franks, Delicious by the Dozen, Crepe Cottage, The Ridge Bistro and Seven Seas Mediterranean Cafe.
“It is an excellent event with music, food, drinks, dancing and laughing,” said Janet Rodgers, president and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s just a fun time had by all that attend. People love to gather with friends and family and just have a good time.”
She said the event not only attracts locals, but it brings in visitors to Alpharetta who have the opportunity to enjoy the other attractions the city has to offer.
Tickets are $10 per individual, and attendees can bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. For those interested in purchasing a table, tables of six are $100 and tables of eight are $130.
“We encourage people to bring friends and neighbors,” Anderson-Wood said.
Backpacks and outside food or drinks will be prohibited from the event.
