There was standing room only as residents, business representatives and dignitaries came out to witness the grand opening of the Fulton County Aviation Community Cultural Center last week. After years of planning, the idea that existed only in the minds of community members, and later in architectural plans, became a reality. Led by county Vice Chair Emma I. Darnell, and supported by the county board of commissioners, the center was designed to provide arts aviation education and arts programming to children and adults. The only center of its kind in the region, the facility honors the men and women who have distinguished themselves in military and civilian aviation.   The center is managed by the county Department of Arts and Culture. Information: (404) 612-8600 or www.fultonarts.org.
