North Paulding rising junior Kyle Banks has been named as a 2014 Brine National High School All-American and selected to represent the Southeast Region team at the 2014 Brine National Lacrosse Classic in Boyds, Md., from June 30 to July 3. The event brings together the top high school lacrosse players in the country with the regional teams competing to become the national champion.

Banks was named to the team after a tryout session in Atlanta earlier this month.

“Being named to the team is something I didn’t expect,” said Banks. “I went out there to get some exposure and become a better lacrosse player. I’m excited to go up to Maryland and compete with the best players in the nation in front of college coaches.”

North Paulding completed its first year of varsity lacrosse at the prep level in 2014 with the boys’ team winning nine contests. Banks, who is an attacker in the lineup, had 99 total points on the season with 69 goals and 30 assists. He also won 53 ground balls.

“The coaching staff is very proud of Kyle who has taken it upon himself to improve his game,” Wolfpack head coach Jason Reardon said. “We’re excited to watch Kyle open doors in the recruiting process and hopefully secure his future of playing lacrosse at the collegiate level.”

Banks started playing lacrosse for the North Paulding program in the eighth grade and enjoys his role on the team.

“I get to score, assist players and do everything that involves putting the ball into the net,” he said. “I get to help my teammates and it’s fun to attack the net.”

Banks is also active in the north Paulding community as a member of Distributive Educations Clubs of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He will also play quarterback on the football team this fall.
